  1. I had a question...
Who do you think is the main character of the novel? is it Nick? Or Gatsby? Most would say Nick, however a lot of people say he is thrown in the story as a side note to keep a balance between Tom,Daisy,Gatsby, and Jourdan. Im just not sure, because Tom has more of a moral conduct than the rest of the characters.

    Real quick, Boo magic

  2. I don't think Nick is the main character, even though he is the narrator. I don't think he's involved enough in the story--as a character-- to be labeled as the "main" one. I'd have to say Daisy is the main character (even though the book is named after Gatsby) because she is the reason for all the conflict and misery. Had she not been so flaky in the beginning (falling for Gatsby and then not waiting for him) and then wavered between Tom and Gatsby, I'm pretty sure the outcome would have been much less tragic.

And I have a question too:
pg. 162 "...and the Holocaust was complete." If this so called Holocaust was completed by Mr.Wilson's and Gatsby's death, why didn't Daisy or Tom die? What makes this "Holocaust" complete?

  3. well the holocaust with the Nazi's wasnt until later in history so it is the literal meaning in this situation. Holocaust means destruction. In this case it is refering to the struggle the characters had, and the explosion at the end, or the shooting of Gatsby. It is also ironic because Gatsby represented the American dream, and now it has been destroyed.
    Hope that makes sense
